Day 3: Prepping for our first day

God's Hope: Today was a day of unknowns. The kids were very anxious to get an early start and out of bed at 7 AM for breakfast. We still did not know what we were going to be working on. Finally our paperwork was here and we soon learned that we would get the wonderful privilege of finishing drywall, sanding, and mudding. We didn't get to our house to around 9:45 AM because we had to go through orientation and a few other things before we could leave. The anxiousness could not be contained. These youth were more excited to serve then I could have ever imagined. We arrived at John's home, an 85 year old man who spent 40 years of his life in the military, born and raised in New Orleans. John just moved back to New Orleans from El Paso, Texas in May 2009. John lost both his wife and his home from the Hurricane and it took him a few years to realize that he missed his home. John has a great attitude about life and loves God with all his heart. He was very thankful that God has sent so many wonderful workers and youth to help him rebuild his home. John originally bought his home 31 years ago for $2500. John has a truly amazing message of faith to share with all. In the evening we had a powerful discussion about God's hope and ultimately He wants us all to be with him in heaven one day. GRACE: God's Riches At Christ's Expense.
